Professor Jinyuan Chang’s team has been approved for the Major Program of National Natural Science Foundation of China

Recently, the National Natural Science Foundation of China announced the evaluation results of Major Programs for 2024. Led by Professor Jinyuan Chang of the Joint Laboratory of Data Science and Business Intelligence of Southwestern University of Finance and Economics, and jointly applied by Professor Weidong Liu of Shanghai Jiaotong University, Researcher Xinyu Zhang of the Institute of Mathematics and System Science of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Professor Gang Kou of our university and Professor Hansheng Wang of Peking University (in the order of subject), the Major Program of the National Natural Science Foundation of China “Statistical Management Theory of Large scale Business Scenarios” has been officially approved. This is the first time that Southwestern University of Finance and Economics has been approved as a leading institution for a Major Program of the National Natural Science Foundation of China.

This project aims to address complex business scenarios and massive business data in the context of the digital economy. By developing corresponding data science theories, statistical calculation and optimization methods, prediction theories, and simulation decision-making theories, the project seeks to construct a comprehensive statistical management process for large-scale business scenarios. This will provide methodological and theoretical support for the development of a new paradigm of data-driven management research, and better solve a series of major management problems in large-scale business scenarios.

The Major Programs of National Natural Science Foundation of China are oriented towards major scientific issues in the forefront of science and in response to the critical needs of national economic, social, technological development, and national security. These programs involve forward-looking planning, interdisciplinary and comprehensive research, and aim to fully leverage their supporting and leading roles to enhance China’s capacity for original innovation in fundamental research.
