Team awarded two National Natural Science Foundation Projects

The National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) has recently announced the evaluation results of its 2025 project applications. Two Young Scientists Fund (Category C) projects from our team have been successfully awarded funding: “Clustering and Covariance Estimation of High-Dimensional Functional Time Series” led by Dr. Cheng Chen, and “Statistical Learning of Causal Chain Graph Models: Methods and Applications” led by Dr. Wei Zhou.

Dr. Cheng Chen obtained his doctoral degree from the London School of Economics and Political Science in April 2022, and conducted postdoctoral research at the School of Statistics, Southwestern University of Finance and Economics, from November 2022 to October 2024. He is currently a faculty member of the School of Statistics and the Joint Laboratory of Data Science and Business Intelligence at Southwestern University of Finance and Economics. His main research interests include time series analysis and functional data analysis.

Dr. Wei Zhou received dual doctoral degrees from Xiamen University and City University of Hong Kong in 2023. She is currently a faculty member of the Department of Data Science, School of Statistics, as well as the Joint Laboratory of Data Science and Business Intelligence at Southwestern University of Finance and Economics. Her main research interests include causal inference, graphical modeling, high-dimensional statistics, and extreme value statistics.
